Perhaps its because:
- He is the Corps Sergeant Major and they shouldn't do bad things (it's going in the corps newsletter)
- Nobody at the corps (church) or his family are going to let him forget it (especially Simmo, he's a bobby)
- He is showing off that his Skoda goes that fast
