Eastham Woods

Today I have been on a walk in Eastham woods, this is just behind our college. In the 19th Century Eastham woods was called the Richmond of the Mersey and a Pleasure Gardens was built. The site is now almost completely overgrown and there is little left of the gardens. You can still see some of the more permanent features in the undergrowth, there is a large fountain and a bear pit where they used to have animal fights. There was also a zoo in their somewhere, I'll look out for it next time I go for a walk. I'll post a picture of the bear pit, I'll try and take my camera to work tomorrow.
